Our strong relationships with many community, industry and educational organisations is fundamental to our ability to provide our students with rich, real world learning experiences and a broad range of career and pathway options.
Our award winning Broadening Horizons initiative is a prime example of community involvement, with support from Regional Development Victoria, Department of Primary Industry, Department of Health and Human Services, Wellington Shire, and a number of local businesses. Over an eight week program, Year 8 students engage in a self-directed science enquiry, which is supported by expert mentors from these organisations. Mentors work with students directly in the classroom, and in turn students have the opportunity to visit the mentors’ respective organisations.
While Maffra Secondary College work closely with all major universities to afford our students the best pathway option for them, our partnership with Federation University is something we are particularly proud of. Through this partnership we are able to work with Federation University to give all of our interested students the very best chance of reaching university.
There are countless other partnerships that make our school such an exciting, diverse and unique place to learn. From local primary schools, sporting clubs, communities houses, small and large business, we have worked hard to build these important relationships to ensure our students can truly be more than they imagine.
