Anzac Day
ANZAC DAY On Wednesday 24th April, we held a whole school ANZAC commemorative assembly
ANZAC DAY On Wednesday 24th April, we held a whole school ANZAC commemorative assembly to remember and pay our respects to those service men and women who have served in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations which gave and continue to give Australia and its people the freedoms that we see today. We would like to congratulate all of our students on the respectful way that they conducted themselves throughout assembly. All students listened attentively to all of our speakers and stood silently when the last post, minute silence and revelry were played. On ANZAC Day we had student representatives attend each of the services in Maffra, Briagolong, Stratford and Heyfield. Students were actively involved in laying wreaths at each service and at Heyfield supporting the Heyfield RSL to carry the national flags during the march and presenting these at the cenotaph. Avery Cannon, as the recipient of the John Sargent RSL (Maffra Branch) Scholarship, presented her speech based on “What ANZAC Day means to me”, to the RSL members at the Shelton clubrooms. Avery did an excellent job communicating her response with passion and empathy to those who have and continue to serve.
