Year 9 is a huge transition year for our students, as they move from middle school and towards senior school in Year 10.
All students in Year 9 will complete a range of core subjects - Maths, Science, English, Health/PE and Humanities - alongside 2 elective subjects per semester.
Students can choose from a wide range of electives, designed to give students a taster of the subjects available in senior school and to allow them to explore new areas of interest.
Alongside this, Year 9 students will engage with our Connect Program, which runs twice per week and offers opportunities for students to build a range of skills to prepare them for life outside of school. Our term 1 focus in Connect will be on Health and Wellbeing, exposing students to a range of areas of physical and emotional health, including key aspects of the Respectful Relationships curriculum. Students will also participate in the Man Cave or Big Sister full day incursions and will culminate their term with their Health and Wellbeing Presentation. Term 2 will focus on Careers, including resume and cover letter writing as well as different careers opportunities. Term 3 and 4 will focus on community engagement and community service.
Finally, our Year 9 camp will run in term 3, with our trip to Melbourne. Year 9 students will have lots of input into the key activities for this camp, as we look to build opportunities to try new and engaging activities for our students.
